Featuring Stuart Cardell
Co-produced and engineered by Stuart Cardell
"Floating" is the first song I've ever released. It's the first single from the album "Sea to City."
This was the first of my new songs after a long time away from music. I recorded the demo back in April 2014, in a tiny house in a forest with the windows open, and sooty owls twittering in the dark. The chorus melody swept in with the breeze at 3:00 am.
It was almost included in two other musical projects that didn't come to fruition. After so long in the wilderness, it now sits perfectly on the upcoming album, thematically and musically.
Every time I hear it, it still seems new. I hope you will like it too.
- Ian T.
lyrics
I’m floating
Ever so high
And far away.
Some people never have a mind to be free
And others just stand by and disagree.
You and I know that’s not how it has to be.
Some people never have the time to be free.
I’m floating
Ever so high
And far away.
I’m floating
While I’m dreaming
In the day.
And maybe it’s ever been this way for everyone
And some days no-one thinks
they’ll see the Sun,
But you and me, we’ve got something better,
We can find a way to live,
You and I, we’ve got a mind to be free,
And free to give.
I’m floating
Ever so high
And far away.
I’m floating
While I’m dreaming
In the day.
I keep thinking of things I wanted to say
But my thoughts just keep on drifting away.
I can’t find it, is it still there in your heart?
Now and then, even when we’re apart?
I’m floating
Ever so high
And far away (ever so high)
I’m floating
While I’m dreaming
In the day (ever so high).

Peter Lacey's catalogue is all highly recommended! This recent album is a moving, concepty suite of lovely singer-songwriter pieces around the cover painting. Peter also fronts a Busker's Dog song. Busker's Dog
A surprise album from the collaboration of Laura Kidd (Penfriend, She Makes War) and Rat (Ned's Atomic Dustbin). It's a bit rock, a bit grunge, and full on guitary, and all round loads of fun! Busker's Dog
A laid back, musically rich journey from composer Andy Dragazis - a mix of songs and instrumentals with male and female guest lead vocals, plus strings, horns, and drums. A pleasant musical journey. Busker's Dog
Noise pop at its finest from this rambunctious Melbourne group that thrives on louder-than-loud guitars and belted-out vocals. Bandcamp New & Notable Mar 4, 2024
Four indie-pop reflections on growth and loss from the Australian singer-songwriter, sustained by robust pianos and fervent vocals. Bandcamp New & Notable Feb 29, 2024
The Australian post-punk outfit's second album courses with unkempt kinetic energy, full of spring-tight basslines and hypnotic riffs. Bandcamp New & Notable Feb 8, 2024
